3D Modelling - Lamp
First, I created a small cylinder and extruded an extra 10 segments above the original cylinder. I went into vertex mode and looked at the cylinder from the side dragging and highlighting the verts to the segments that need to be moved up, down or scaled smaller or larger to replicate the lamp image I have selected. I kept repeating this process adding more segments whenever I needed more sections to scale. Finally to finish off the stand of the lamp I used the taurus poly to add the ring on the top of the lamp, the stand was now done.
For the lamp shade I created a separate cylinder and used the connect tool to make 4 segments inside this cylinder. I then scaled the top 2 sections and the bottom 2 sections to make the basic shape of the lamp shade. For my next step I used the connect tool on the inner section of the lamp shade, selected the every other vertex, and the scaled them slightly smaller so they created the jagged effect like the lampshade in the image. Finally I used the connect tool on the bottom of the lamp shade and the top of the lampshade, scaled them to the right size and then deleted the inner circle. I selected the edges of the inner ring both on the top and bottom and them bridged the gap between them to create the hollow lamp shade.
