For my time machine I really liked
the idea and concept I created and it turned out a lot better than I thought it
would, if I had more time I would have spent more time working on the emissive
map to make it look a little neater around the edges of the patterns and try
and figure out why the pattern on the of the skull didn't’t
line up properly. Asides from this I’m really happy with what I did for this
project, I just wished I had managed my time better to to get round to doing
the points I mentioned.
For my pillar I did honestly enjoy
my first idea more and wish I didn't mess it up. Considering I needed restart that project
specifically from scratch my new pillar could have been much worse since I had
less time to complete it in and managed to finish it in 2/3 days. If I were to
do my pillar again I would make sure I save my files with appropriate file
names so I know what file the base mesh was and what file the low poly was etc.
This is definitely something that I'm going to make sure I do for future
projects, as well as managing my team better.
As for the other projects (Lamp,
barrel, telephone) I leant a lot of new techniques from doing those models,
especially from making the telephone, I learnt about the duplicate special tool
and how to create the spiral wire for the phone using a helix and some motion
paths, they're both also transferrable skills for other projects in the future
since they have multiple purposes. Again, like I said before, If I managed my
time better I would have UV’d and textured all of them but
because I didn't’t
manage my time well I never got the chance. Another thing I might have redone
would have been my lamp and maybe experiment with a more complicated design
than the one I did just because I didn't’t
need to use that many tools to create the one I made, it would have been nice
to experiment with Maya a bit more. All in all, asides from the Pillar really,
I'm pretty happy with the work I've created throughout these projects.
Things to work on for next time:
-Time
Management
-Give
myself enough time to experiment with different designs and textures
-Name
files appropriately
-Try
and go out of my comfort zone in Maya to learn new things
-Give
projects a cleanup (neaten up maps and just tweaking final details for a better
result)
