In our lecture we looked at mazes and we were given a small task to talk about how mazes can be incorporated into games.
One example of a game thats uses mazes (just a basic type of maze) would be the ratchet and clank series. Each world/level is open to a degree, you can explore random parts of the area you have landed in but not every path leads you to your objective giving the player a multiple pathways to explore but only one solution to finish the quest and proceed onto another world. another example of a more complicated maze would be open world bethesda games like fallout and skyrim. Essentially theres caves, vaults and temples that you can explore and these aspects feel more like a labyrinth as they tend to contain many enemies and potential bosses if you happen to walk down the wrong corridor or cave crevice.
As a way of incorporating a maze into a game there are multiple possibilities. One is like i mentioned in the other two examples where you, the player, have to navigate your way through maze to complete the task. However, you can also incorporate mazes in a puzzle based system like an intricate lock to a door. An example of this is again, ratchet and clank, they incorporate this gadget called the trespasser where you are using a puzzle based system to unlock doors for you to proceed in the level or to unlock hidden areas.
